Bolstering cooperation among Public Prosecutor Offices at member SAIs: the Prosecutors Committee brings together its members in Rome

18 September 2026

The Public Prosecutor Offices Committee (PPOsC) held its annual meeting on September 17, 2026, in Rome, Italy, with Prosecutors General and representatives of public prosecution offices from 15 member SAIs of the Committee in attendance. The meeting focused on presenting the results of activities carried out in 2026, reviewing the progress of the 2025–2027 action plan, and discussing the priorities that will steer the Commission's future work. In particular, the meeting provided an opportunity to review and adopt a proposal to develop, by late 2026, a model bilateral agreement for members interested in setting up exchange programs in 2027.

On the sidelines of the meeting, the PPOsC organized its first seminar on September 17–18, 2026, at Forte Aurelia Antica in Rome, Italy. The meeting brought together Prosecutors General and representatives of public prosecution offices from JURISAI member SAIs, including Algeria, Andorra, Angola, Benin, Brazil, Burkina Faso, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Côte d'Ivoire, Djibouti, the United Arab Emirates, Spain, France, Gabon, Greece, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Iran, Italy, Madagascar, Morocco, Portugal, Chad, Tunisia and WAEMU.

The seminar's proceedings covered various areas pertaining to the functions of public prosecutor offices at the SAIs, the mechanisms for invoking the financial liability of public managers, and building professional capacity of prosecution office members. The discussions were organized around five thematic sessions:

  • The institutional position and organization of the Public Prosecutor Office at the jurisdictional SAIs within national legal systems;
  • The functions of the Public Prosecution Office at the SAIs with jurisdictional functions across different judicial systems;
  • The investigative activity of the Public Prosecutor Office: a comparative approach;
  • Relations with other judicial bodies;
  • Protection of the European Union budget.

It is worth noting that the Committee is one of the permanent operational bodies of JURISAI. It aims to encourage dialogue and cooperation among prosecutors offices at the member SAIs by fostering the exchange of best practices in the exercise of the functions of the Public Prosecution. The Committee is currently chaired by Corte Dei Conti of Italy.
